On grief and the confectionery of Santa Caterina in Palermo
Beautiful. A lesson that life & death are two sides of the same coin. As the essence of the nuns lives on in the marzipan, just as your parents live on through your writing.
Thank you, Stephanie. That is a beautiful thought.
Claire, your beautiful piece of writing on marzipan really touched my heart. Thank you for sharing it.
Thank you for saying that.
I, too, loved, loved, loved marzipan, but I don’t think I’ve had it in 40 years. I have to go back to Sicily.🤩😍🤠
I hope you will. And Sicily has so much more to offer!
Beautiful. Thank you taking me on this tender journey.
Thank you for reading and for your kind words.
wow on all fronts ! I loved the photos as well!
Thank you!
I've never liked marzipan but love St. Nicolas Day!
I have mixed feelings about St. Nicolas Day; there was much to love about it, but also lots to dislike and disagree with. A topic for another essay!
But hasn't that been changing a lot?
Yes, it has, but only after I left the Netherlands. My feelings relate to the version as I knew it from 2 decades ago.
