Thank you for the photos and the quotes. I think I will be drawing some of these wonderful female heads in my art journal as I try to decide how to move forward.
Thank you, Thaisa. There are a lot of essays published today and yesterday. Most of them are full of anger, which I understand, and blame, which I think is less useful. I wanted to do something more contemplative.
Quite beautiful, women's heads. You're so right. The Grace Paley quote is a sad statement, in spite of all that she achieved. (Maybe made early on in her career). And liked the Leonora Carrington quote, especially “casually hazardous gatherings organized for the purpose of people wasting other people’s time.” So accurate.

I'm so happy they can inspire you!
Thank you for this, Claire. Great to read this on the day-after the day-after....

Yes. I don’t think anger is useful. The shocking results aren’t a personal assault.

Yes, Paley's quote is from an early short story in which she was quite ironical. I adore her voice.
P.S. I debated whether to call them women's heads or female heads, but since I wanted to refer to Female Heads of State, I chose the latter.
Very apropos, women heads of state—Rather ironically so.
Fabulous photos and comments, wonderful pairings. I will revisit this post frequently, especially next time in Rome!
Thank you, Terri!
